OnSeptember 17, 2015, Nankai University started the 2015 orientationfor first-year undergraduate students. Among the 3598 freshmen, YihuiDing, who was only 15 years old, was one of the first 00’sgeneration (those who were born between 2000 and 2009) students tostart their college study in Tianjin. She was also the youngeststudent that has ever been enrolled by the School of Medicine, NankaiUniversity.

Yihuiwent to the preliminary school at 4.5 years old and attended afive-year middle school program after graduation. In 2015, Yihui tookthe National College Entrance Examination and gained the admission tothe Eight-Year Program in Clinical Medicine at the School ofMedicine, Nankai University.

“AlthoughI belong to the 00’s Generation, I share the same interest with the90’s Generation (those who were born between 1990 and 1999). I likewatching US TV series, reading and music.” Said Yihui, “This ismy first time away from home. So I learned how to do my own houseworkand laundry in the summer vacation to prepare for the college life. ”When talking about her major, she said “I have always been dreamingabout becoming a doctor because it is a respected job and also fitsmy personality. I also hope that I will be able to participate insome social practice and club activities in Nankai University. Butmost importantly, I wish I will become an excellent doctor in thefuture.”
