Graduates

By strengthening the foundation,paying close attention to quality and being oriented to the clinicalpractice, the School of Medicine, NKU works hard to organize andimplement the postgraduate teaching, aiming to foster senior medicalprofessionals with all-round moral, intellectual, physical andaesthetics grounding with a hard-working spirit. Specifically, ourgraduates should have high moral principles and professional ethics,a broad and deep background of knowledge in both social and naturalsciences, solid medical basic theories, proficient professionalpractical skills, ability to solve practical clinical problems andconduct independent scientific research, strong innovative spirit andhigh potential for development. The School is based on a jointeducation system, with a number of A-level tertiary medicalinstitutions in Tianjin as its affiliated hospitals for clinicalpractice and research. In 2007, it singed a cooperative agreementwith the Chinese PLA General Hospital (CPLAGH or 301 Hospital), whichthus became its teaching hospital. This greatly enriched its clinicalteaching resources. The School of Medicine works together withco-sponsoring institutions to carry out all-round cooperation in thefields of clinical talent training, discipline construction, teachingand scientific research. One major authorized to offerdoctoral degree – Doctor of Clinical Medicine, which has 17professional fields: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Neurology,Dermatology and Venereology, Emergency Medicine, Critical CareMedicine, Rehabilitation Medicine and Physical Therapy, Surgery,Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology,Otolaryngology, Anesthesiology, Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics,Oncology, Radiological Imaging, and Ultrasound Medicine. It willstart to recruit doctoral students in clinical medicine in September2021, who will be trained in its major teaching hospitals in Tianjinand CPLAGH in Beijing.


Two majors authorized to offermaster’s degree program – Master of Clinical Medicine and Masterof Stomatology. The School joins hands with its major teachinghospitals in Tianjin to cultivate postgraduate students to pursue amaster’s degree in Clinical Medicine, and with TianjinStomatological Hospital to train postgraduate students to pursue amaster’s degree in Stomatology. During their study, students shouldalso participate in the standardized training of residents. Thecertificate of residency training and medical practitionerqualification are linked to the graduation and degree application ofmaster's degree. That is to say, master's graduates must obtain thefour certificates mentioned above upon graduation. From September2006, we began to enroll postgraduate students to pursue a master’sdegree in Clinical Medicine, with 11 specialties. They includeInternal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics andGynecology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Anesthesiology,Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Oncology, and Radiological Imaging.In September 2015, we began to enroll postgraduates to pursue amaster’s degree in Stomatology, as well as postgraduate students inall fields related to Clinical Stomatology.

Currently, it has opened 10 secondary majors, includingInternal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Geriatrics,Oncology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Imaging and NuclearMedicine, Neurology, and Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics.


Four disciplines authorized tooffer master’s degree program - Clinical Medicine, Basic Medicine,Stomatology, and Food Science and Engineering. Of them, in 1999, webegan to award a academic degree to students completing theseven-year clinical medicine program and enroll three-yearpostgraduate students; in September 2011, we began to recruitpostgraduate students to pursue master’s degree in Basic Medicine;in 2007, we began to recruit postgraduate students to pursue master’sdegree in Stomatology; and in 2018, we began to enroll postgraduatestudents to pursue master’s degree in Food Science and Engineering.
