1. Research Areas

Everyone feels stressed at some point in their lives. In small doses, stress can be positive, making us more alert and improving our performance. But long periods of stress can contribute to high blood pressure and mental health problems.

Apparent links between psychological stress and cancer could arise in several ways. For example, people under stress may develop certain behaviors, such as smoking, overeating, or drinking alcohol, which increase a person’s risk for cancer.

Our research findings have uncovered a possible biological link between severe psychological stress and an increased risk of developing breast cancer.
