The Functional Science Laboratory is combined with the experimental teaching laboratories in physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology, and is equipped with multi-media teaching instruments, local area network (LAN) and an Animal Resource Center. There are now 10 staff members in this laboratory including two full professors, five associate professors and three technicians (5 with Ph.D. degrees and 4 with Master’s degrees). The laboratory is now providing 400 teaching hours annually in about 50 projects for over 400 hundred students from the School of Medicine, College of Pharmacy and College of Physics. Meanwhile, the number of experimental teaching projects is updated by 10% every year in this laboratory, making it the busiest section in the Experimental Teaching Center for Basic Medical Sciences. Moreover, teachers from this laboratory have also gained fruitful achievements in teaching reform, updates in teaching materials and experimental projects. They also supervised the One Hundred Innovation Projects of Nankai University and the National College Students Innovation Research Program for undergraduate students, and also helped students publish some research articles.
