On March 28, 2019, the Virtual Reality Laboratory for Microorganism Detection in Clinical Samples at the School of Medicine, Nankai University was approved as one of the State Virtual Reality Experimental Teaching Programs by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. The program is led by Dr. Yin Liu, associate professor in microbiology at the School of Medicine, and is designed to provide immersive and interactive experimental teaching for medical students.
The Virtual Reality Laboratory for Microorganism Detection in Clinical Samples creates virtual environment of vision, hearing and touching, which allows students to interact and communicate in this 3-D clinical sample testing laboratory. Thanks to this technology, students would be able to study experimental skills in microorganism detections. This system would also stimulate students’ interests and improve their skills to perform independent experiments.
