The Scientific Research Project Participated by Professor Kong Xiaohong Wins Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council held the National Science and Technology Awards Conference in Beijing on the morning of January 10. Party and state leaders such as Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Wang Huning, and Han Zheng attended the conference and presented awards to the winners. The project entitled Establishment and Clinical Application of the Diagnosis and Treatment System Based on Epidemiology and Microenvironmental Theory of Spine and Spinal Cord Injury led by the General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University and cooperated with NKU won the second prize of the 2019 National Science and Technology Progress Award. Professor Kong Xiaohong of school of medicine, NKU and the orthopedics team of the General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University have achieved a series of research results for the intractable disease of spine and spinal cord injury through joint research as follows: establishing China’s first epidemiological database for spine and spinal cord injury, and carrying out independent research and development of minimally invasive technology system with independent intellectual property rights based on its epidemiological characteristics; constructing a spinal cord injury molecular pathology database, taking the lead in proposing the theory of microenvironment imbalance after spinal cord injury, and guiding the transformation and application; establishing a standardized diagnosis and treatment system for spine and spinal cord injury, standardizing the rapid diagnosis of spine and spinal cord injury, and establishing medication and surgical treatment and postoperative rehabilitation standards.
