Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the 2021 list of national and provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites. Additional 14 national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites and 29 provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites of NKU are included. Stomatology, Intelligent Medical Engineering and Optometric Medicine & Ophthalmology of the School of Medicine are approved as provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites, which means all the four undergraduate specialties of the School of Medicine have been approved as national or provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites.

In 1989, the specialty of Clinical Medicine (7-year program) was opened for admission
In 2009, the specialty of Stomatology was opened for admission
In 2014, Clinical Medicine (7-year program) was changed to Clinical Medicine (“5+3” integrated program)
In 2018, NKU was among first colleges to open the specialty of Intelligent Medical Engineering for admission
In 2019, NKU was the first Project 985 university to open the specialty of Optometric Medicine & Ophthalmology for admission
In 2020, the specialty of Clinical Medicine passed the accreditation of medical education of the Ministry of Education for a validity period of 6 years
In 2021, the specialty of Clinical Medicine was approved as a national first-class undergraduate specialty construction site
In 2022, first batch of students in the specialty of Intelligent Medical Engineering graduated
In 2022, the specialties of Stomatology, Intelligent Medical Engineering and Optometric Medicine & Ophthalmology were approved as provincial first-class specialty construction sites
