On June 13, Tianjin Eye Hospital and Tianjin Eye Hospital Optometric Center donated 30 million yuan to NKU to establish the NKU Institute of Ophthalmology Development Fund, with the view of supporting the development of the institute. Cao Xuetao, President of NKU, Mao Jinsong, Secretary of CPC Committee of Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Mei Zhihong, Deputy Director of Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Wang Lei, Vice President of NKU, Chen Jun, Vice President of NKU, Wang Chunge, Secretary of CPC Committee of Tianjin Eye Hospital, Wang Yan, Director of Tianjin Eye Hospital, and Li Lihua, Director of the Tianjin Eye Hospital Optometric Center, attended the donation ceremony in Haibing Building, Balitai Campus.

The donation aims to promote the development of the Institute of Ophthalmology, gather top-class experts at home and abroad, improve the disciplinary development in combining medicine with principles of medical science and medicine with engineering technology, thus making substantial contributions to the high-quality development of ophthalmology and related interdisciplinary fields in China.
