Nankai University Makes New Progress in Heart Failure Treatment Research

Funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (under the projects with the approval numbers 81971887, 31971194, 82172170, 82072187, and 81802091), the research team led by Qi Zhi from Nankai University School of Medicine discovered a new mechanism on how exercise training protects against heart failure. The outcome titled “Exercise Training Protects Against Heart Failure Via Expansion of Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells Through Regulating IL-10/STAT3/S100A9 Pathway” was published in the journal Circulation: Heart Failure online in March 2022.

In this paper, Nankai University School of Medicine is the first organization of the first author; Feng Lifeng, a doctoral student from Nankai University School of Medicine, is the first author; the co-corresponding authors are Associate Professor Ren Jiling from the School of Basic Medical Sciences of Tianjin Medical University, Associate Professor Yang Liang and Professor Qi Zhi from the Laboratory of Molecular Pharmacology of Nankai University School of Medicine.
