To strengthen international medical exchange and cooperation and explore new models for cutting-edge medical development and talent cultivation, NKU School of Medicine, Tianjin First Central Hospital, and Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío (Seville, Spain) successfully held an exchange symposium on the afternoon of August 4 at the Training Building of Tianjin First Central Hospital.
This symposium aimed to establish a high-level platform for international cooperation and dialogue, promoting in-depth exchanges and mutual learning among the three parties in medical education, clinical research, discipline development, and hospital management. Wang Fengmei, President of Tianjin First Central Hospital; Duan Feng, Vice Dean of NKU School of Medicine; and Professor Fernando De La Portilla of Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío (Seville) led their respective teams of experts and management personnel from related fields to attend the meeting.
During the symposium, representatives from the three institutions first introduced their respective organizations’ development history, key disciplines, research capabilities, and internationalization strategies. Tianjin First Central Hospital focused on its outstanding achievements and advanced management practices in key clinical specialties, emergency and critical care, and organ transplantation. NKU School of Medicine focused on its achievements and future plans in basic medicine research, high-level medical talent cultivation, and promotion of coordinated development of medical education, research, and clinical practice. Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío (Seville), as one of the largest and most prestigious university-affiliated hospitals in the Andalusia region, introduced its leading medical technologies in Europe, multidisciplinary collaboration models, clinical research translation, and experience in operating transplant centers.
The symposium featured in-depth discussions on multiple topics, leading to consensus on several key initiatives, including the establishment of a joint laboratory under the Belt and Road initiative and the launch of an Excellent Physician Exchange Program.
